ABOUT MARCO PAVIN - guitarist and composer

Born in Padua (Italy), he began studying guitar at a young age, graduating in 1987 from the Conservatory of Padua. In 1991 he also obtained a degree in physics.

As a classical guitarist he attended advanced courses with Betho Davezac and David Russell. and since 1988 has undertaken international concert activity both as a soloist and in ensembles.

For many years he has dedicated himself to the electric guitar in avant-garde classical music, a current theme and the object of attention by contemporary composers. In this field he is considered an international specialist in technique and interpretation, and several composers (from the Italians Mauro Bagella, Michele Biasutti and Tiziano Bedetti to the Americans Eric Chasalow and Scott Johnson) have entrusted him with their own compositions.

He has performed at relevant contemporary music festivals throughout Europe, and carried out 4 tours in the United States.

He has held concerts and seminars at universities in Italy (University of Padua, Udine, Pisa) and USA (NYU, Amherst, Brandeis, Sarah Lawrence, Adelphi, ECSU, Berklee College of Music). He has made radio recordings for several European national radios, and published 7 CDs with the avant-garde musical group Interensemble.

Author of various compositions for guitar and live-electronics and soundtracks, in 2001 he published his first solo CD (Electric Dream), entirely dedicated to the contemporary electric guitar and broadcast on the radio in various countries around the world.

His aesthetic research has led him to combine elements of contemporary classical music with other realities of today's music, such as rock and world music. In his solo performances the electric guitar is accompanied by a large amount of effects, MIDI and computer-generated-sounds, with significant space for improvisation.

He is currently also involved as a researcher in the field of teaching and pedagogy of improvisation.

Marco Pavin will perform on the electric guitar solo, with strictly live effects. The program includes compositions by the same performer, by Michele Biasutti and by Tim Brady.
