Music Information Center Development and Maintenance
#Overview
The Music Information Center is a resource for students to find all of the content on the CNMAT website that is related to a category in the MIC.
There are 3 pages that are used to implement the MIC:
- the MIC Panel which is the primary view of the MIC
- the Music Information Node Type which is tagged with terms that should appear in the MIC
- and the MIC Resource Pages which collect and display material from the cnmat site related a specific term
#MIC Panel
The MIC panel has a list of categories on the left side and when selected shows topics for a category on the right side. The list of categories comes from the Music Information Center Taxonomy. When a new term is added to the list, it will appear in the MIC Panel's categories list.
#Music Information Node Type
The Music Info Node type is the main organization tool of the MIC. Each category in the MIC needs to have a corresponding Music Info Node which is tagged with the list of topics that appear under the category. The Music Info Node is also tagged with the MIC Taxonomy category. Using tags instead of fields makes maintenance easier by reflecting changes made to the taxonomy or to the node reflected across the entire site.
#MIC Resource Pages
These pages are automatically generated using the term ID of a vocabulary term in the URL. The page contains all of the nodes tagged with that term arranged by node type.
